According to a J.D. Powers and Associates report, Centex Homes was ranked number two in customer satisfaction. This announcement was made by Centex Homes on Thursday.

Coming just behind Pulte Homes who were ranked number one, Centex Homes had the second highest ranking for overall new homebuilder satisfaction. Other builders also made it into the study including David Weekley Homes, who ranked third; Beazer Homes who ranked fourth; and KB Homes came in with the fifth-highest ranking. The study was only for builders who were in the Orlando area and who had a total of 150 or more closings in the Central Florida counties of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, and Volusia during 2006.

The Orlando - Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau has a new marketing campaign that was recently announced by President Gary Sain. Sain made the announcement at an industry-wide luncheon, which had over six hundred and fifty guests. This marketing campaign focuses on keeping summer in bloom all year round with the tag line “Endless Summer – It’s not a season. It’s a state of mind.”

The luncheon was one event in a day-long program that the bureau hosted for those in the industry to let them know the status of the first year’s marketing tactics and to let them know what the next year will bring.

Orlando ForeclosuresAre you interested in buying a distressed property? Pre-foreclosure filings were on the rise last month in Florida, placing it at the No. 2 spot across the nation for total filings and filings per capita, claims Foreclosures.com. In first place was California with 132,101 year-to-date pre-foreclosures, and Florida followed closely behind with 111,236. Florida was also just behind Nevada’s 2.55 percent per capita with a 1.76 percent per capita.

In July alone, Florida had 21,120 filings, which was well above the 13,005 filed in June. These were still very close to the numbers in California who had a total of 23,662 filings in July. The local real estate market here in Orlando has been under a lot of scrutiny lately along with the majority of the US housing market. The headlines read "Orlando-area home sales drop 35% in April". While we cannot dispute this fact that the numbers are down but is the press giving this market a bad wrap?
