Posted by Jeffrey G. Funk P.A. on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at 8:00am.

Over the last several years growth in the Lake Nona area in southeast Orlando over the last several years has been undeniable. With many housing and commercial developments, such as the Lake Nona Town Center, there are many great opportunities for current and future Lake Nona residents to take advantage of. In a recent Orlando City Council meeting, a staff report was presented on several recommendations for the future development of the Poitras Community Park. Located east of Centerline Drive and west of Luminary Boulevard, this 14-acre community park seeks to be a vibrant hub for recreation, relaxation, and community engagement.

Some of the key features of the park include these recreational opportunities:

  • Pickleball courts perfect for enthusiasts of this fast-growing sport.
  • Fitness pods will provide outdoor fitness equipment.
  • Playgrounds and splash pads will be sure to keep the little ones happy for hours of fun in the Florida sunshine.
  • Multi-use Trails and shaded seating areas will be perfect for fostering healthy lifestyles for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to the awesome recreation additions, gathering places, including picnic and performance pavilions will provide a perfect location venue for family and friends to enjoy time together for social meetups, group meals, concerts, or outdoor events.

Poitras Park's next steps for approval and development include finalizing the Master Plan with modifications and conditions as recommended by the planning team, permit acquisition, and traffic and access plan approval.

We are excited about the planned park, which will benefit current and future residents in and around Lake Nona. Stay tuned for future updates and information!
