If you have been following my blog you may have noticed that the homes at the Windsor Hills Reserve have been a rather hot commodity. These vacation homes have been sold time and time again just after they are released. The 7 of the 9 homes released last week have already been sold. From time to time I receive information on a home that a home at the Windsor Hills Reserve has been placed back in the inventory. These homes are typically offered at a substantial discount and are typically sold very fast.

Engle Homes will be building five new communities in Central Florida. The total number homes that will be built are 1,073. These are all part of the Engle Homes Orlando 2008 home collection. According to a J.D. Powers and Associates report, Centex Homes was ranked number two in customer satisfaction. This announcement was made by Centex Homes on Thursday.

Coming just behind Pulte Homes who were ranked number one, Centex Homes had the second highest ranking for overall new homebuilder satisfaction. Other builders also made it into the study including David Weekley Homes, who ranked third; Beazer Homes who ranked fourth; and KB Homes came in with the fifth-highest ranking. The study was only for builders who were in the Orlando area and who had a total of 150 or more closings in the Central Florida counties of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, and Volusia during 2006.

Over the years I have had many investors - Orlando vacation home buyers ask about upgrading to a bigger property. In most cases the best way to do this is by utilizing a 1031 tax exchange. A tax deferred exchange makes it possible for an owner to sell a piece of investment property and buy a new property using the profits from the sale without having to pay taxes right away. Pulte Homes has once again been awarded with the highest ranking in customer satisfaction. They have earned this honor for the fourth year in a row and this comes from the 2007 J.D. Power and Associates New-Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study. The company has also earned the highest rankings for new-home quality, new-home design and builder-mortgage orientation. The latter three categories have been added for the 2007 study. Coming close to Pulte Homes were four other builders. They included Beazer, Centex Homes, David Weekley Homes, and KB Home.

The study involved twenty-six of the thirty-four U.S. markets and included Pulte’s brands Del Webb, DiVosta, and Pulte Homes. Pulte’s rankings were first for customer satisfaction in eleven markets, and
